Family History
A community is a collection of people; and a local community museum, like the Gilbert Historical Museum is built on the many stories, items and artifacts recited or donated by the descendants of some of Gilbert’s earliest prominent families.
Just wandering around the
Generations Room
, you’ll learn about the pioneering spirit of the families that shaped Gilbert's early history, and recognize family names that still influence our town today like Morrison, Neely and Lamoreaux.
The toys, games, clothes, and other personal items on display, much of it dating from the late 1800s and early 1900s, have been donated by families’ wishing to record their Gilbert connection. The old photographs and newspaper clippings offer our museum visitors an insight into the lives of these families as they shaped Gilbert’s past.
