The Military Exhibit celebrates the many Gilbert residents who have proudly served in the American armed forces. With numerous uniforms, flags, weapons and many other items kindly donated by Gilbert residents and veterans, this room will give visitors an interesting local perspective to World War I and II, the Korean and the Vietnam Wars.
We Want You at the Gilbert Museum!
We have dozens of interesting artifacts that have been brought back from ‘over there’ by the brave men and women who represented our town and our country in wars around the world. Don’t miss the book filled with letters written home by Gilbert’s boys as they served overseas.
Our collection includes rarely seen items like an original note that American pilots carried with them in the skies over Korea; if they were shot down it would help them communicate with locals. You’ll also see newspaper articles, recruitment posters and numerous other ‘souvenirs’ from some of the world’s major military conflicts.
