Model Train Exhibit
Model Train Exhibit
Gilbert wouldn’t be Gilbert without the railroad; in fact if it wasn’t for the train we probably wouldn’t be here! The track that slices its way through town and the sound of train horns blasting are constant reminders of Gilbert’s railroad past.
As with most Model Train displays, our Model Train Exhibit is a work in progress; the museum partnered with a local model train club a few years ago and work continues every week. Our exhibit, depicting the railroad as it was around WWII, shows the trains’ route to and from Gilbert in those days. Imagine yourself inside a passenger car looking out the window at downtown Gilbert as it was back in the day!
The train exhibit is not always open due to limited access, but if you are interested in seeing the exhibit, just ask the front desk volunteers and they will open it for you.
Come and join the fun!
The Gilbert Model Railroad Club
meets at the museum to work on the display on most Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.; the club welcomes those that are interested in railroading and/or membership of the Club. Visit
