Welcome to Teachers' Corner

The history on display at the Gilbert Historical Museum makes us a great destination for local school field trips.  For teachers who want  to give their students a 'hands-on Gilbert history' experience, contact our executive director, Kayla Kolar, to make the necessary arrangements. You can find our group tour prices here.

A Rich Experience for Gilbert's Children

Elementary School ChildrenAs you take your class around the old halls and classrooms, have them listen to the old floorboards creak, have them close their eyes and picture the generations of children who sat, learned and played in these rooms over the years.  If they're old enough not to be scared, have them listen really carefully;  can they hear footsteps and voices...?  We think the old building may be haunted!

Study Guides to Help You

Below you will find a downloadable study guide perfect for 1st grade level (& possibly some 2nd graders).  We would like to thank Michele Cunningham from the Gilbert Christian Elementary School who put together this guide for a recent field trip; Michele has kindly allowed us to post it for others to use; Michele added " Thanks again for your warm hospitality for our large group.  We will definitely plan to come again next year!!"

You will also find a study guide and materials suitable for 3rd/4th grade field trips, including information on our traveling trunks; just in case you can't get your class to the museum, these trunks will enable you to bring a little Gilbert history to your classroom!

Please feel free to adapt the guides to your particular needs, and if you have any questions, please don 't hesitate to get in touch.
